Oh, The Stories You’ll Hear!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Oh, The Places You'll Go!There’s a fun and FABULOUS event taking place this Saturday (February 27th) that you’ll want to take the kiddies to.

In honor of Dr. Seuss, ALL Target stores across America will feature a reading of the Dr. Seuss classic, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! as well as in-store events that include readings by volunteers and local notables, giveaways and other fun reading-related activities.

Read Across America Day coincides each year with Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel’s birthday, and Target, along with the National Education Association, support this day as the nation’s largest celebration of children’s reading.

The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

Race to Nowhere is a powerful documentary film that asks the question we all ask ourselves – are we pushing our kids too hard and too fast?    The film-makers hope to encourage families, educators, experts and policy makers to examine current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become the healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens of the next century.   We think this is one film that is a must-see for parents everywhere.

Green and Greener

We wanted to give a shout out to our favorite go-to Green Gal, Alegre Ramos.  Not only is she the owner of LA’s premiere Green boutique, Green and Greener, but she’s also pregnant with her first baby.  Who better to write an informative and insightful article on going green during pregnancy.  We wanted to share her six tips for a green pregnancy here.  Enjoy!

Seal Worthy

Friday, February 5th, 2010

We love practical baby items and as any new parent knows, you can never have too many bibs.  Our newest find, the Baggino Learner’s Bib, gets our thumbs up because it can be used from table time to play time.  Long sleeves, long front, and the cute, simple design are what makes this bib a stand out.

And now through the end of February, Baggino is donating 50% of all website sales to Haitian relief.  Now that’s what we call seal worthy!

No Phone Zone

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

As busy working moms, we know that quiet, “alone” time often takes place while driving -shuttling between school, soccer, meetings – you name it.  We also know how easy it is to use that time to check in with our hubbies, friends, make a doctor’s appointment, or even dinner reservations.  Starting today, all that will change.  We’ve taken Oprah’s (yes, we love her!) No Phone Zone Pledge and encourage you to, as well.  As hard a habit this is to break, remember, distracted driving is dangerous driving.

I pledge to make my car a No Phone Zone. Beginning right now,  I will do my part to help put an end to distracted driving by not texting or using my phone while I am driving.  I will ask other drivers I know to do the same.  I pledge to make a difference.

Spread the word…. and of course, when you get our voice mail, now you’ll know why.
