Reality Check

Friday, January 29th, 2010

We’ve all seen them, those fabulous celebs who seem to bounce back to their post-baby bodies in the time it takes to get home from the hospital.  While we love Heidi and adore Padma, when it comes to “reality” our favorite post-baby-body role model is none other than Kourtney Kardashian. This new mom not only gave birth to a beautiful baby boy but also had the confidence and courage to admit that she gained 40lbs while preggers and, despite the fab photoshop, has yet to lose it!

We say bravo for making it OK! for pregnant and new moms to celebrate their bodies and for sharing the only secret to post-baby weight loss – healthy diet, exercise and lots of patience!

Free Rice!

Friday, January 29th, 2010

We’ve all been there….playing around on our computers when we’re supposed to be doing something else.  Well, we’ve discovered a site that’s not only a fun distraction, but does the world some good.  Free Rice is a game playing site that tests your knowledge in a variety of topics.

With subjects ranging from chemistry to geography, this addicting game may just make you smarter, improve your speaking, writing, thinking, grades,  job performance, and overall personality!  And for each correct answer, they’ll donate 10 grains of rice through the World Food Programme to help end hunger.  With the United Nations estimating that a child dies from hunger related causes every 6 seconds , playing a little Free Rice is the least we could do.

Haiti – Diaper Duty

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Our friends at Happy Heinys have always supported those in need and after the devastating earthquake in Haiti they have once again shown what an amazing and philanthropic company they are.  Linda Byerline, the CEO of Happy Heinys, is currently soliciting monetary donations as well as baby clothing and small items that can be sent to Haitian orphanages, the goal is to  ensure that as many babies as possible have dry cloth on their bottoms, clean clothes to wear, and food in their belly.  Details on how you can help are below:

If you would like to be so kind as to help out financially so that we can afford to send out more new diapers and new clothing as well as shipping costs and costs of extra luggage for those who are flying out to Haiti. Please send any donations to us through paypal, please be sure to clearly mark the payment in the subject box as Donation for Orphanages in Haiti and select the Personal option for sending the money so there is no extra charges applied.  You can send funds through paypal to: lbyerline@cox.net.  You can send funds using a credit card or cash.  All funds collected will solely be used for purchasing of new items and the costs of shipping. Any left over funds will be directly donated to those in need.

GoodSearch

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

We recently came across this amazingly easy and worthwhile web tool called GoodSearch.  GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. It’s a simple and compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it’s powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers — the users and the organizations do not spend a dime!

Search the web and shop online with GoodSearch & GoodShop. Free coupon codes at top stores.

Whether it’s raising funds to find a cure for cancer, saving the environment, finding homes for abandoned pets or any number of worthwhile causes, it couldn’t be easier than doing something we all already do every day – search the internet.   Add GoodSearch to your browser and start doing better by doing something good.
