With so many things to be thankful for, we’d like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday!

This just in -  the largest crib recall in U.S. history.  Don’t panic, just be aware and make the necessary changes to your nursery.  The best advice is to always follow manufacturer’s instructions when it comes to crib installation and construction. Stay alert and stay safe!

Bellies to Bellies is a fabulous on-line resource for families to buy, sell & trade new or gently used items from maternity wear to baby/toddler gear and everything in between!   Started by a mom for moms and families, Melissa Williams wanted to provide a neighborhood shopping experience for visitors of the site who don’t have the time or inclination to deal with early morning yard sales and frustrating on-line auctions.  The site also offers the option to trade items with other sellers or find a place to donate your goods  to a local charity.  It’s definitely worth checking out.

We’re just a few days late to this party, but couldn’t wait to mark the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street!  We absolutely loved this article in Newsweek and couldn’t agree more that this seminal show truly changed the face of television… one letter at a time.

With near hysteria looming large regarding the hinge/folding mechanism on Maclaren strollers, our friends at Goores summed up the recall in a measured and responsible way:

On Tuesday, November 10th, Maclaren USA will be announcing a recall on ALL of their strollers manufactured since 1999. The issue involves the stroller’s hinge mechanism, which poses a fingertip laceration and amputation hazard to the child when unfolding/opening the stroller.

Maclaren will be providing, free of charge, to all consumers who own an affected Maclaren single or double stroller a kit to cover the strollers hinge mechanism. The kit consists of two simple easy-to-fit covers that fit over the left and right hand hinges on the sides of the stroller. They will simply zip around the joint on the stroller frame. Retailers will be receiving kits to update existing inventory but most likely will not have extras. The quickest way to obtain the kit will be to order them through Maclaren either from their website www.maclaren.us/recall or by calling 877-688-2326. Both are currently not functioning but presumably will be on 11/10.

Remember, Maclaren strollers are safe! This is a voluntary recall and does not relate to a defect of their product. It is simply an alert to the owner/operator there is a possible risk of injury when opening/closing their strollers. Until you receive your hinge kit you should use extra care and be sure your children’s hands are clear of all mechanisms when folding and unfolding your stroller.

Now through December 6th, new, unwrapped toys are being collected at Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores nationwide, for distribution in their local communities. By participating, you can bring smiles to so many families across America whose kids might not have a toy to unwrap this Holiday season.
